Cleveland Indians postpone season opener to Tuesday, April 5, 2016: What to know

The make-up opener will begin at 1:10 p.m.

The Indians released the following statement to spell out the postponement: “Today’s match was postponed because of the prediction transforming from no precipitation to having precipitation the majority of the day and into early evening. That steady precipitation outlook along with wind chills it was determined by both umpires and teams for player security and enthusiast relaxation to postpone the match. Tomorrow’s outlook will continue to be chilly, but no hoped-for precipitation.”

The gates didn’t start Monday at 2 p.m. as scheduled. Instead, supporters waited outside until the match was called at about 2:19 p.m.

Here is what to understand as the opener shifts to Tuesday:

Ticket exchange: Tickets from the Opening Day of Monday will soon be honored by the Indians. For every ticket, fans can also decide at an added match in April or May at Progressive Field. Enthusiasts who cannot attend the rescheduled opener of Tuesday exchange for just two other matches in May or April.

The Indians, who initially offered an exchange for select dates declared after this.

Because the first opener of Monday was a sellout, the Indians don’t intend to offer additional tickets if some are changed for a future game.
Parking: Messages were left seeking verification from Shaia’s Parking on costs for Tuesday and Standard Parking. A representative with the Parking of Shaia said Monday afternoon they were still determining the rates of Tuesday.

Weather forecast: High of 34 degrees, overcast.
